Workshops & Events

Our workshops and services are engaging and hands on, you leave with the practical know how of what to do next on your block, no matter how big or small.

In 2016, we purchased a bare block of land, which became the project for Shane's Permaculture Design Course. We sought guidance from experienced tutors and mentors to ensure we were on the right track. Today, we are seasoned permaculture practitioners, but we still work from the plan we created at the outset.

With two decades of experience in sustainable living and developing our block from scratch, we’ve created a series of systems that allow us to eat mostly from our land. Our goal is to help others save time, effort, and money when setting up their edible gardens, orchards, and lifestyle blocks.

We’re known in the valley as "the small footprint people," a description we’re proud of. We love that we’re now living the life we envisioned when we left the hustle and bustle of the city behind.

Edible Gardening on the Homeblock

Join us for a full-day, hands-on workshop in our home garden, designed for both beginners and experienced gardeners. This workshop covers the essentials of garden design, soil health, companion planting, and crop rotation. Nicki will introduce you to Permaculture principles, guide you through setting up gardens and composting systems from scratch, and highlight the importance of nurturing your soil.

This is an interactive session, so be sure to bring gumboots and a raincoat in case of bad weather. Morning tea and workshop notes will be provided. Please bring a plate for a shared lunch.

Self Sufficiency on the Homeblock

This workshop is for those who want to maximise their productive potential on a small to medium sized lifestyle block. Our aim is to share with you the basic permaculture design principles, holistic grazing systems and family routines that have allowed us to produce most of our own organic meat and vegetables, despite working predominantly off-site.

The morning session in the garden with Nicki discusses the fundamentals of soil health, growing nutritious vegetables, companion planting, crop rotation and composting. The afternoon with Shane will be looking at food forest design, holistic grazing methods and raising pigs.

This is an interactive session, so bring gumboots and a raincoat in case of inclement weather. Morning tea and workshop notes are provided. Please bring a plate for a shared lunch. We will provide farm grown sausages and a salad.

Join us to learn how to be more resourceful and set yourself up for a healthier, happier and more resilient future.
